I’ve uploaded some pictures from a short, work-related trip to Washington, D.C. The album is public, so no need to register. I was only in town for a few days but managed to hit quite a few of the hot spots.
The gallery is … kind of up and running. There are apparently some stylesheet issues, but for the most part, it’s there, and it works. So woopie.

I just felt like writing it. And we haven’t even reviewed Civil Procedure yet.

My family and I just returned from a little post-graduation trip to Vancouver and Victoria. I’ve eaten some pretty exceptional food and seen some amazing sites in the past few days. Weather and company were perfect. I wish life consisted of nothing but travel—and what makes that thought even more painful is that for some people, that is very much the case!
And now, just one more week before all hell breaks loose again. Actually, since I’ll likely be spending the majority of my one last week before I begin studying for the bar packing and preparing to move, I’m pretty much already done with break. Joy.

After only a week at my externship, I can easily say it has been, and will be one of my best experiences in law school. The projects are challenging and interesting, the people are great, and I find that I’m experiencing a sense of pride and satisfaction working in chambers. I’m so happy to be externing at federal district court, and I can’t think of a better way to spend my final semester of law school.
I bought a new wireless router today. It’s the Linksys WRT54GC and it is absolutely awesome. It’s compact, easy to setup, and has amazing range for an internal antenna. I fully plan on packing this baby with me when I travel so I can always have a wireless internet connection with me wherever I go. It replaced my old and crusty Netgear WGR614 which, for some inexplicable reason, constantly stopped broadcasting its wireless signal, forcing me to reset the router everytime I wanted to connect to it with my laptop. It’s had that problem ever since I got it, over two years ago! Good riddance!
I realize I haven’t reflected very much on my recent trip to Thailand and Hong Kong on my blog. The fact is, however, that I have reflected on it a great deal with my friends who have been interested to know about it. But, since I can do anything I want with this space, I will say that it was probably one of the best, if not the best, vacation I’ve had. There are many reasons why this was such a good trip, but the most important reason has to be seeing family. Except for my parents of course, I grew up pretty separated from extended family. I never had a grandparent or an uncle or even a cousin “over the river and through the woods.” We always had to trek across long distances to see family. So, needless to say, it’s always enjoyable to be in a place where you’re literally surrounded by family members. In any event, I plan on making some progress tonight on uploading some pictures.
In other news, I’ve actually (finally?) decided to expand my diecast collection beyond United. I’ll certainly still collect her, but there’s no point in denying it any longer: this hobby has addicted me.
See if you can spot the other airlines I’ve added to the collection…

This blog has been hit with somewhat of a dry spell recently. Time to water the plants!
Updates have been insanely sparse over the past couple weeks because I, well, had a lot to do (what else is new?). As of Thursday, Jason and I finished up a 30-page brief for the Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition. The problem involved a rather sticky issue regarding the search of a passenger compartment incident to an arrest. Jason and I represented the government, and though the law generally tends to favor the government on these issues, we were struggling to come up with slam dunk arguments. Still, I think it was a decent showing. We’ll see what happens.
As of this afternoon, (I think) the first revisions on my law review article are complete. I actually made quite a few substantive changes; cutting sections, adding support for others, and sort of reworking the overall organization. I think it’s stronger now, although we’ll see what the editors have to say. I also started source and cite-checking (part of my duties as a Research & Technical editor) an interesting article about the Seattle monorail project and whether it presents taxation without representation issues. Should be an interesting article — look for it the next issue of the Seattle University Law Review (along with my article, hopefully).
Work has been great, but super busy. No surprises there. Now that the “bulk” of my article revisions are out of the way, my summer should begin settling at a slightly more rational workload.
That about does it for now! Oh, one last thing — I uploaded pictures from my two-day trip to New York on the way to Rich’s wedding. They’re in the gallery right now. After I hear back from Rich, I’ll also have pictures from the wedding uploaded. Stay tuned!
Thank you, your honor.

Another Friday in the library. With 14 credits, law review, and a part time job, I often find that I have no other choice.
Work was pretty challenging today. More projects are finding their way to me these days (which is good) and I feel like the pressure to perform is rising (which is kind of good) and I’m getting really picky about my work product (which can be good) which at times drives me crazy (which is bad). All this while my appellate brief is nagging me in the background, makes for a long and stressful day. But I should be used to that by now.
I’m beginning to suspect if I’ve been scammed for the first time on ebay. If I don’t have a certain package by the end of the week, I’ll have my first opportunity to leave negative feedback. I’ve already been conjuring up some biting sentences to nail this guy for the fraud that he is quickly shaping up to be. Phrases such as, “AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE” or “STEER CLEAR OF THIS FRAUDULENT SHAM ARTIST” sure have a special ring to them, don’t they?
Well, I’m ready for break! Wait a minute . . . .

So, looking back on this past week of “fun and games,” what did I accomplish?
1) I finally purchased food after a two-month hiatus from the grocery store;
2) I adequately fed my collecting habit by purchasing six new models (yup);
3) I watched season 3 of Mr. Show which I am still… contemplating;
4) I ate more salomi than my stomach can handle;
5) I wrote part of my appellate brief for Legal Writing II;
6) I outlined like a mofo; and
7) I went to work on Friday
All in all, quite the prototypical break, wouldn’t you agree?

Day two of work was interesting. I drafted my first set of interrogatories and requests for production (discovery tools). This was a little tricky though because we didn’t have the complaints from the various parties that were suing us, so I had to play some guessing games with the questions bank. There’s no limit on how many interrogatories you can propound in Washington; that’s a little scary…
I’ve been adding to my 1:400 airline collection (happily I might add!). I’m planning to throw together some rudimentary page to show off the various pieces in my collection… maybe write up a quick review with comparisons to the actual aircraft. How’s that for interaction? I never thought I’d hear myself say (type) this, but I wish there wasn’t so much choice out there when it comes to models. I generally know which manufacturers are considered the “higher quality” brands, but you never know if one company’s mould for a certain aircraft is better than the other’s… ah a collector’s life indeed.
After work I did some “other” work on my law review article. Second drafts are due in a week! I’ve got some cleaning up on it to do, but I think I can handle it… ah a law students’ life indeed.
Thankfully my schedule is not so brutal this year (by that, I mean the times I have class and break are pretty reasonable). I have a 2-hour seminar that meets on Thursday evenings, so really for most of the week it feels like I only have three classes. That’s nice, but of course I always end up filling the blocks of time with work.
And now… state and local court rules for a motion for partial summary judgment on the plaintiff’s retaliation claim… no pretext yo!
