In faster-than-usual fashion, pictures from my recent trip to the Dominican Republic are now available in the gallery. I took well over 400 pictures during this trip, although there are only around 150 or so uploaded, mostly because some of the pictures are redundant and, well, 400 is a lot!
Although you can certainly view all the pictures from the gallery on my blog, in a very small number of cases where the picture caption is particularly long, they may get cut off (due, I believe, to a small technical issue with Shadowbox JS). Also, due to another technical issue (maybe kPicasa Gallery?), videos don’t seem to be working through the gallery (there are only 4 or so, so not a substantial amount). If you want the full, unadulterated viewing experience–i.e., no captions ever clipped, and videos–you can view the album at my Picasa Web Albums page.

I’ve returned from a glorious trip to the Dominican Republic… almost. Apparently, the U.S. went and decided to bury itself under mountains of snow while I was soaking up the sun in Punta Cana, and unfortunately my flight from Newark to Chicago–where I’m supposed to be for the Christmas holiday–was canceled. My flight from Punta Cana to Newark, aside from being ridiculously late, went off more or less without a hitch, although apparently the plane’s trans-oceanic/long distance radio malfunctioned so we had to stay closer to land which added some time to our flight. Didn’t matter of course since my connection was canceled. In any event, I’m blogging from the Crowne Plaza near Newark International, and am very much hoping I can make it on to one of the four flights bound for Chicago tomorrow morning. Keep your fingers crossed.
And man it’s nice to have Internet again!

I’ve blogged about this topic earlier, but some things deserve extra time in the sunshine. As some of you know, I’ve been batting around the idea of acquiring a new digital music player. While I’m very fond of my iRiver iFP-790, my recent fascination with Amazon mp3 downloads has shown me (reminded me?) that 256MB is not a particularly generous amount of storage these days. Still, I’m serious when I declare that my iFP-790 has served me very well, and it dawned on me the other day that as I’ve embarked on this search for the successor to my trusty digital music player in red, I’m basically looking for the exact same player, but with more storage space.

Happy post Thanksgiving to all. I’ve been in Chicago for the turkey holiday, but will be sure to blog about this particularly fattening holiday when I’m back in Seattle.
By the way, you should all go see Slumdog Millionaire. What a great movie.

On Friday evening, Bryan and I embarked on a 315-mile journey from Seattle to Pullman, WA to attend the Apple Cup, an annual football game between Washington’s cross-state rivals, the University of Washington Huskies, and the Washington State University Cougars (and a big thanks to Rich and his lucky wife for the tickets!). In the process, I saw more rolling hills, grain fields, and crimson-covered college students than I’ve seen in my entire life.

I’ve posted pictures from a short visit to D.C. in the gallery, so feel free to go over and have a look. Yes, this is actually my second trip to D.C. this year. I did post pictures from my first trip earlier this year, but they were posted into my Gallery 2 albums, which, as you may know, I’m no longer using. I’ve actually yet to reupload those pics so there’s really only one batch available at the moment, and in any event the pictures from this trip are quite different from the first batch.

I’ve uploaded some pictures from a short, work-related trip to Washington, D.C. The album is public, so no need to register. I was only in town for a few days but managed to hit quite a few of the hot spots.
The gallery is … kind of up and running. There are apparently some stylesheet issues, but for the most part, it’s there, and it works. So woopie.

Well, I’d say it’s about time for an update!
Had some friends in town last week. We managed to pack quite a few activities in, both in and out of the city. I’d never even been to a few of these places! I think the trip went quite well – sounds as though everyone had a good time. Joanne has some pics and a nice summary of the trip on her blog.
Today at Greenlake I saw a gentleman wearing a banner that said “Spanish lessons.” That’s an interesting way to advertise.
I discovered an interesting website/blog that collects information on Conjure One-esque electronic/ambient/chill out music. It’s called Celestial Voices. I discovered it after recently purchasing Worlds Apart, the new album by Blue Stone. Of course, it made its way onto my iRiver immediately (encoded with Ogg Vorbis Lancer aoTuV R1, no less).

Oh… well, that’s a bummer.

As I write this, the Seahawks are mounting what looks to be a thrilling fourth quarter come-from-behind victory against the Rams, and the sun is emerging from clouds that have blanketted Seattle all weekend.
Chicago, we’ll see you in the playoffs.
Anyway, it’s time for some updates. First, I’ve (finally) uploaded pictures from the Star Trek convention I went to about a month ago. Head on over to the gallery to check them out (note: the album is limited to registered users).
Second, I was in L.A. a couple weeks ago for my cousin’s birthday. I snapped a lot of pictures that I’m … sure I’ll be uploading in due course (which, as you can see from above, probably translates to about a month late… but better late than never!)
Finally, I attended my first Airline convention yesterday! It was at the Museum of Flight, and I added a couple models to the collection – a Thai A340-600, and a United Airlines Cargo DC-10-30. My United collection is now up to 58 pieces. It may be time to upload some pictures soon.
Well, I’m spent.
