Thank you Seahawks!

We may not have made it to the NFC Championship, but I’m proud to (finally) call myself a Seahawks fan! Thank you for a great season!

Those of you who have known me for a while might be surprised to see that I now actually consider myself a football fan. Yes, it’s true. After years of giving blank stares whenever conversation shifted to the week’s latest football news, and not understanding passing routes, drives, and 3 and 1 conversions, I’ve decided it’s time to emerge from my cave of ignorance and embrace the good ‘ol pigskin sport.

I followed the Seahawks fairly vigorously this year, and along the way, I’m happy to say I learned that there’s much more to the sport of football than I ever gave it credit for. I still haven’t grasped all the intricacy that goes into each play and each formation, but, there’s always next season! Above all else, the aspect of football which struck me the most is importance of each and every play or call on the field. In basketball, a player getting fouled really doesn’t mean much until the last 5 minutes of the game. In football, however, every penalty hurts because it means the other team is keeping their drive alive, gaining valuable field position, and/or getting that much closer to the end zone. And scoring a touch down is nothing like scoring a basket. Football is intense. Every play is like a clash between two titans. It’s epic.

So, thank you Seahawks for giving us a roller-coaster season, and, for making me a football fan.
